Marta Sikora
Trainee Counsellor
Hello and welcome to my profile.
My name is Marta and I am a trainee counsellor in integrative modality, which means using versatile approaches, such as person-centred, cognitive behavioural therapy and transactional analysis. This methodology enables me to draw upon the wide scope of theoretical and practical developments and apply the most suitable way to address particular circumstances that you may present, accordingly.
I offer a safe and non-judgemental space, where you will be able to explore matters that are important to you, whatever has been troubling you and proving difficult to deal with at present and in the past. No issues are ever too small or too big to discuss and ponder on, in order to allow a deeper understanding of the root causes of these and their implications and impact they may have on various areas of your life. We will work at an appropriate pace that is just right for you and with my skills and experience, we will cooperate to enable you to enhance self-awareness, finding the most suitable coping strategies, and perhaps new approaches to dealing with arising problems in the future. Together we will strive to gradually improve your wellbeing, deepen understanding of self and general outlook on life to evolve and become more positive as a result. The environment provided will be calm and peaceful, inviting you to explore any concerning subject matters and areas of life that feel difficult to manage.
I am an empathic, patient and supportive character, who finds helping and assisting others in their journey tremendously rewarding. I work with integrity and sensitivity towards individual people’s needs, respecting and honouring their differences and diversity of backgrounds and life experiences, whilst being respectful and understanding to these. In my practice, I will gently navigate you throughout the counselling therapy process, where you will benefit from being attentively listened to and actively heard, and welcome to bring any concerns to the table to discuss and deliberate on. In our work together I will use my abilities to help you finding best ways to navigate through daily life challenges, as well as making sense of past events and experiences that may affect you to-date.
Qualifications and previous experience wise, I hold a Master’s degree in sociology and subsequent completion of further education and training courses, with a career in higher education, including research. I have also been volunteering with various organisations and charities throughout the years, including a hospice, a charity and a mentoring programme, supporting migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, among other minority, under-represented and vulnerable groups. I am highly competent, committed to continuous professional and personal development, and devoted to the meaningful work we will embark on to enable you to thrive.
I am a registered student member of BACP and adhere to the organisation’s ethical framework.
